Derby: A poem in six parts describes peripherally — through fictitious source material — the chronologically and dimensionally layered story of the assembly of a film. The work addresses ideas of the after-life, transcendentalism, the nature of self-hood, and conventions of cinematic genre.
Derby launched in May 2015 along with a sound work — the film’s imagined soundtrack. It is now in the Artist Book Collection of the Emily Carr and Simon Fraser University Libraries, the National Archives of Canada, has been read at LIT LIT LIT LIT (a reading event at Publication Studios, Vancouver), and presented at the Vancouver Art/Book Fair (2015).
